One of my favorite simple meals for any day of the week, especially weekends at home, would have to be French Bread Pizza. This is a simple recipe, you can cater to everyone’s taste at home, instead of spending a fortune on different manufactured pizza company pizza’s.
This recipe serve’s 4 (roughly depends how you cut the slices, you could feed more if you cut the slices smaller)
1 loaf of French Bread (Sliced down the middle and then in half if serving 4)
1 cup of your favorite pizza sauce (Simple recipe below)
1 to 1 1/2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
Choose your favorite toppings, we love salami, spinach, onions and peppers.
1.) Preheat oven to 400 degrees
2.) Place slice bread on baking sheet
3.) Spread pizza sauce on french bread, followed by toppings and cheese
4.) Place pizza’s in oven, bake about 12 minutes, or till cheese is melted to your liking
5.) Serve once slightly cooled
Pizza sauce (also great over pasta)
In a medium saucepan use 1 Tablespoon of olive oil, you will saute about 1/4 cup of sliced or chopped white onion, 1 Tablespoon of chopped garlic. Once the onions look translucent, turn the heat down and add 1 can of tomato sauce (8 ounces). Add 1 Tablespoon of italian seasoning. Stir all ingredients together, in saucepan. Cover and let this simmer for roughly 20 minutes, or as you chop other ingredients for pizza, pasta or so forth. You can even let this simmer longer, if you want more intense flavors.
