Frankie’s South Philly Cheesesteaks (Tucson, AZ)

Any reason not to cook and try something amazing, and to do it for a lunch date with my husband, I’m all for it! We have so many amazing restaurants to choose from in Tucson, sometime’s I just have to trust him and let him pick what we are going to go eat, since he actually gets to venture out more than I do.

My husband recommended Frankie’s South Philly Cheesesteaks and of course I agreed, but since I can’t eat dairy, while breast feeding my little one, I figured I would end up getting a plain salad, since a Philly Cheese Steak without cheese just seemed so boring. When I walked into Frankie’s South Philly Cheesesteaks, it smelt like heaven! The aromas of steak and peppers is so exciting to me.

Let me just say, a Philly Cheesesteak sans the cheese was not boring at all. I decided to try a 9 inch Plain Steak on a delicious Amoroso Roll, loaded with both, sweet and hot roasted peppers. It was absolutely delicious! The steak is so flavorful and rich tasting, the peppers just enhance it to the next level.

Plain Steak with Peppers

Even though I was so full from the 9 inch sub, I wanted more, just because it tasted so good. The steak is aged certified angus beef and that amoroso roll is so fresh, fluffy and warm straight from Philly! I seriously cannot wait to eat here again.

For those who love cheese, this is the place to be! My husband ordered the cheesesteak with WHIZ and hot peppers, it was just oozing with cheese! (I don’t know why I didn’t take a picture, my bad) BUT you can get your cheesesteak with WHIZ, American or provolone cheese as well. My hubs also ordered onion rings, which are just as delicious as the subs, I snuck a few and would recommend them to anyone wanting a savory side. I wonder what the steak and cheese would taste like on them……

You can order your steak on a roll, on a plate, on a hoagie, on a salad and even on a pizza! If you have someone with you who doesn’t like Philly Cheesesteaks, before ending your friendship, they can eat here as well! Frankie’s offers Hoagies, Pork, Chicken, Chicken Cutlets, Vegetarian options, Salads, Cod, and even have a kids menu for kids 14 and under. Yes, 14 year olds, and younger. I find that awesome, because sometimes you have that 14 year old who is picky AF and you just want to enjoy something delicious! I’m excited to take our 12 year old here, so she can try something new while we devour more Philly Cheesesteaks!

Frankie’s has a cozy atmosphere to sit in. They what appears to be 3 dinning rooms in the restaurant, my husband and I chose the back room, since we had our teething baby girl with us, and just in case she lost her shit, we were somewhat away from the majority of the crowd. The staff was so friendly, the cashier recognized my husband from when he would visit with co-workers. I’m assuming he has gone more than he has mentioned…..which I totally get the food is amazing!
